Colombia is without a doubt one of the countries we were most looking forward to visiting on our travels, and it doesn’t disappoint. Having only been here one week, our remaining five seem far to little time in which to fit in all we want to see and do. Up next is a five day visit to Tayrona national park in the north of the country for some beach time, followed straight after by a trek into the Sierra Nevada – by all accounts a beautiful hike to visit the Ciudad Perdida (the lost city), an abandoned, ancient city of the Tairona people that pre-dates Machu Picchu by over half a millennia.
Following this, we’re heading South, down to Barichara in the Santander region, a beautiful little colonial gem and then perhaps enjoying some mountain time in the Parque Nacional Natural El Cocuy to the East. This just then leaves Bogota, Medellín and Salento for the final phase of our Colombian adventure, before high tailing it to Peru sometime around mid-November.
